Our Breeding Philosophy
At Vanaheim, we see ourselves not simply as breeders, but as custodians of one of the world’s most respected working breeds. Every breeding decision carries a responsibility to the dogs that came before us and to the generations that will follow.
We study pedigrees, evaluate influential European working and show lines, and selectively incorporate outstanding international bloodlines, including through imported stud dogs and frozen semen.
Our aim is to produce Rottweilers that bring together the qualities we value most: correct breed type, strength without excess, balanced and sound structure, stable temperament, intelligence and the confident character of a true Rottweiler.
We believe the future of the breed depends on thoughtful selection, an understanding of bloodlines and a willingness to make decisions for the long term rather than simply for the next litter.

Health, Ethics and Breed Integrity

The quality of a Rottweiler extends well beyond appearance or pedigree. Health, soundness and temperament are fundamental considerations in our breeding program.
Our breeding decisions are guided by appropriate health testing, pedigree research and careful consideration of the individual dogs involved. We aim to make informed choices that support the long-term wellbeing and integrity of the breed.
Vanaheim Rottweilers adheres to the National Rottweiler Council of Australia (NRCA) Code of Ethics, is a member of the Rottweiler Club of NSW and is registered with Dogs NSW, which is affiliated with Dogs Australia.
We believe responsible breeding requires honesty, ongoing learning and a genuine commitment to the dogs entrusted to our care.

Our Foundation Bloodlines
Our foundation females were imported from Europe and represent an important part of the pedigree heritage behind Vanaheim Rottweilers.
Our bloodlines include internationally recognised dogs such as World Champion Astor von Junipera, Multi International Champion Uno vom Haus Engel, INT CH and VDH CH Mambo von der Crossener Ranch, and VDH CH Balou vom Silberblick.
These pedigrees reflect generations of German ADRK working heritage, alongside European, international and Australian champion bloodlines. We value the depth of this heritage while continuing to evaluate how each line contributes to the Rottweiler we are striving to produce.
For us, pedigree is not simply a list of names and titles. It is a foundation for understanding type, temperament, soundness and the qualities that can be carried forward into future generations.

Conformation Showing and Breed Recognition
Conformation showing has played an important role in our journey with the Rottweiler. We actively campaign our dogs throughout Australia, with a particular focus on Rottweiler Specialty Championship Shows.
Over the years, our dogs have received Excellent ratings and recognition under specialist judges from Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, South Africa and other countries.
Among the respected judges who have assessed our dogs are IFR President and IPO Rottweiler Specialist Judge Mr Dirk Vandecasteele of Belgium, International FCI Championship Show and Rottweiler Specialist Judge Mr Gerard O’Shea of Sweden, ADRK Rottweiler Specialist Judge Herr Siegmund Trebschuh of Germany, and FCI Rottweiler Specialist Judge Mr Bruno Bortolo Morstabilini of Italy.
For us, showing is about more than titles. It provides an opportunity to assess our dogs against the breed standard, learn from experienced specialists and continue refining our understanding of the Rottweiler.

A Boutique Breeding Program
Vanaheim Rottweilers maintains a selective breeding program, with only a limited number of litters planned each year. This allows us to give careful consideration to each mating and devote time, attention and resources to every puppy and the family who welcomes it home.
We believe the right match matters. Whether a Rottweiler is destined to be a much-loved family companion, a show prospect or part of a future breeding program, our aim is to help each puppy find a suitable home where its needs and potential will be understood.
Our approach is guided by quality, careful planning and a long-term commitment to the breed, rather than the number of litters we produce.

The Vanaheim Family
Our responsibility does not end when a puppy leaves our home. Every Vanaheim owner becomes part of our extended family, with ongoing support, guidance and mentorship throughout the lifetime of their dog.
We are here to help with the many stages of Rottweiler ownership, from nutrition, training and socialisation to show preparation, breeding guidance and the everyday questions that arise along the way.
Many families return to Vanaheim for their second or third Rottweiler, while others become lifelong friends. These relationships mean a great deal to us and reflect what we value most: producing dogs we are proud of and supporting the people who welcome them into their lives.

Vanaheim Rottweilers Australia

I have recently Imported a dog from Vanaheim Rottweilers and I intend to import another 2 dogs from them over the next 12 – 24 months my boy arrived in top condition and super happy and healthy. The process is a lengthy one which includes health tests done by a local Australian vet and a second health check by Jet Pets the pet traveling company All the results are sent to our biosecurity before we get a clearance permit. Then the dog comes to quarantine and an international head vet checks the dog again and it remains in quarantine for 2 weeks, only then is the dog cleared. Vanaheim Rottweilers has been very professional and patient throughout the entire process and would highly recommend them if you’re thinking of importing a Rottweiler from Australia. In a time of grief after losing our boy, Leizel and Oliver have reinvigorated our love and passion for the breed. I cannot thank Oliver and Leizel from Vanaheim Rottweilers enough for the beautiful girl we picked up 11 months ago. Their pre-purchase advice and after purchase care is second to none. My girl is the most placid and stunning Rottie we’ve ever owned, with fantastic results in the show ring. We feel so lucky to have found Oliver and Leizel at Vanaheim Rottweilers. We were invited to meet their beautiful dogs with our toddler and were really impressed by their willingness to answer all of our questions. It was important for us that the puppy joining our family had the correct temperament, and this was where the Vanaheim team stood out. After intense research and breeder scrutiny we decided to enter a partnership with Vanaheim Rottweilers and were united with our boy Zeus whom quickly became the heart of our household. I’ve been keeping an eye on Vanaheim Rottweilers website admiring their dogs and the imported semen they have of European Champion dogs. I’ve called Oliver and he was very professional and have been kind enough to sell me some semen for my breeding program. This was semen that was no where else available and he has really given me a good price. Very experienced and have extensive knowledge about his bloodlines and what he is trying to achieve in his kennel has been nothing short of inspirational. After searching high and low in Canberra we’ve decided to extend our search and we’re happy we did. We stumbled across Vanaheim Rottweilers and 2 trips later to Sydney we’ve secured our Beautiful call. We have been in contact ever since and Leizel and Oliver has helped us tremendously from Nutrition to training advice that has given us the confidence and know how to help our girl settle in from day one and she is well in her comfort zone today. I’ve always wanted a Rottweiler with world class bloodlines and found Vanaheim Rottweilers website very helpful with lots of valuable information which made me choose them. Not only did they sort out everything from Shipping to additional blood tests and injections to get our girl safe and sound from Australia to Fiji. It’s not an easy decision to make when living abroad but the team at Vanaheim has given us confidence and the required peace of mind. As a first time Rottweiler owner, I’ve done extensive research and decided to visit a Rottweiler Specialty show hosted by the Rottweiler Club of NSW where I’ve met Oliver who is a member and part of the committee who have offered a friendly hello and provided thorough information on the breed before inviting me and my son over to come and say hello to his 13 month old boy at the time. How intimidating for me and my toddler to meet such a massive dog for its age. I’ve registered myself for the next litter and have not looked back ever since. What a professional breeder! From day one of contacting the team at Vanaheim Rottweilers, there was constant interaction the progress of our male show puppy, with detailed information on appearance and temperament found on the website. On arrival to Perth WA we could not be happier with our new boy.
We have a loving gorgeous boy, with a big personality and quirks. His a calm and a relaxed dog, with a very good temperament. Gets along well with other dogs and loves a good cuddle and fir a Rottweiler very snuggle. Very smart dog too and just wants to do the right thing. As I write this my neighbours are riding their very loud motorcycle up and down the street, Storm is still laying on the grass…chilling. Very calm not fussed by the noise. An absolute credit to Oliver and Lee from Vanaheim Rottweilers. An ambassador for the breed!
